This is the beautiful sunset vista from the top of Hengistbury Head in Southbourne, Dorset.
Hengistbury Head is the headland between Bournemouth (Southbourne) and Mudeford and projects into the English Channel. It has importance as an archaeological site, local nature reserve and conservation, science and environmental interest. The ‘hill’ section is also known as Warren Hill. The whole area is popular especially with dog walkers, visitors and for watersports.
Relaxing on the beautifully carved bench on the top of the Head (just by the triangulation point), I watched the sun gently set; morphing into different spherical shapes as the skyscape colours blended and reblended. Warm evening, fresh air, stunning vista. It was asking to be drawn.
