This is the epic view from the end of the natural Hengistbury Head Spit (Mudeford Spit), towards Mudeford Quay, Dorset.
The Spit sees a hive of water activity with Christchurch Harbour, “The Run” and the Rivers Avon and Stour. The iconic Black House is very well known and just a quick ferry trip from Mudeford Quay. There are stunning views all around this area across to Christchurch Bay, Mudeford, Hengistbury Head (Warren Hill), the Isle of Wight and The Needles. Mudeford Quay is home to the Haven Inn, some quaint former fishermen’s cottages, parking to allow visitors to explore and enjoy the area and is also used for local fishing and water sports. A popular spot for walking, exploring and seeing the famous Mudeford Huts.
I especially like this view as it sums up everything special about the place; I can smell the fresh sea air and watch how the waters dance and swirl as they dash in The Run and sweep past The Black House on their way through. Lifts the soul!
